Funkkit Stickers4Sneakers tradeshow in HKtdcLast month, the FunkKit team took a trip to Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair, to exhibit our Stickers for Sneakers. We set up a booth among hundreds of other exhibitors and met people from all around the world who were looking for new fun and exciting products to bring back to their countries. Since FunkKit is the first company to produce Stickers for Sneakers, we attracted a good deal of attention from visitors and got a lot of compliments for the creative, unique concept idea for shoe customization. We received interest from many retailers from Australia, New York, South America, Japan, Hong Kong, and Europe who loved the idea of Stickers for Sneakers.

All in all, FunkKit was very well received in Hong Kong! And we got some time to tour around the city after the show, which was an extra fun perk.

Our Taiwanese counterpart, Obien EZ Stickers, also attended a trade show — Taiwan’s largest and best B2B gifts and stationery purchasing exhibition, “Giftionery Taipei 2012 – Taipei Int’l Gift & Stationery Show 2012″. To find out where in Taiwan you can buy their products, or just to see some really cool and unique ways to use Stickers for Sneakers, visit their website at www.obien.shop.conn.tw.

Multi Collab

FunkKit-Shaun Palmer-Chase
FunkKit, Shaun-Palmer and Chase collab
As you know FunkKit is constantly looking for new and exciting collaboration opportunities. We’ve had lots of fun in the past teaming up with art academies, the Israeli Comic Museum, and various freelance artists.

Recently, our Japanese division joined forces with Chiyoda Co., Japan’s biggest shoe store, to create a limited edition of shoe collection, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chiyoda’s first Shaun Palmer shoe collection.

Shaun Palmer is a professional American snowboarder, skier, mountain biker, and motocross rider, and loves all kinds of extreme sports. He is so well known that PlayStation 2 even developed a Shaun Palmer Pro Snowboarder game! Palmer and Chiyoda Co., have teamed up to launch a number of shoe collections since their first collaboration ten years ago.

Now, FunkKit is joining this collaboration and together offering a special edition of stickers for sneakers all designed by Chase, a freelance artist currently living in L.A. Chase creates colourful artwork that can brighten your day. Past clients of Chase include Adidas and Puma, so he is no stranger to creating shoe-related art, and we love what we see. Great job!

FunkKit’s collaboration with Facebook and Lacoste

You might have heard whispers yesterday about our latest collaboration with Facebook and Lacoste. In case you haven’t realized yet, it was only an April Fool’s joke. :) We decided to join some other online companies and have fun with it. Google certainly took advantage of the day with their fake 8-bit version of Google Maps, and so did Toshiba, with its “Shapes” tablet, which was being offered in the shape of an oval, diamond or heart and was meant to be a more personalised way of sharing information. (It seems we’re not the only ones who understand the importance of customization!)

However, the photo below does show a real FunkKit sticker. We received this photo from a big facebook fan. Her friend Tuti bought the Sky Blue pattern, then cut it out to look like the facebook logo and then gave it to her friend as a gift. We think it looks great!

DIY EZ-Sticker

Stickers for Sneakers Taiwan – “EZ-Sticker” – has been having lots of fun lately, making tutorial videos. They don’t just customize their shoes, they stick FunkKit Stickers on laptops, phones, and anything else they can find with a clean surface! Check it out

Taiwan takes “Do It Yourself” projects very seriously- this tutorial on book decorating looks complicated but it definitely adds pizzazz to an otherwise regular notebook, and it makes good use of the extra Stickers4Sneakers scraps you might have left over, after cutting them up for your shoes:

They also had some cute ideas for using Stickers4Sneakers with kids’ shoes. Aren’t these little sneakers adorable?

Here are some other Tutorials they put together:

FunkKit welcomes 2012!

Before we turn to 2012, let’s dive back into 2011, and recall some of FunkKit’s highlights from the past year.

FunkKit Workshops
The collaboration with comic and FunkKit Comic Workshop illustration artists such as Dorit Maya Gur, Dan Allon and Matan Liberman have led us to also create FunkKit Workshops for kids ages 7-16. The kids’ creations were amazing; they came up with many new combinations and added their personal touch by drawing with permanent markers on the stickers themselves. The best part was that the kids’ parents were into designing their own shoes, just like their kids.

Designer Community
As you know, FunkKit is more than just Stickers for Sneakers, we provides an opportunity for designers to showcase their artwork.
In April, we started a project with design students in various art, fashion and design institutes. We invited them to create inspirational designs and get involved with FunkKit’s online platform. We had FunkKit’s first designers’ contest and received over 100 designs from designers all over the world. The highlights are currently presented at our online gallery. To read more about our collaboration with Ort Harmalin, click here.

On a personal note, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the talented designers who joined our community, we are incredibly grateful for the support each one of you showed. We don’t take you for granted, and we’re honored to collaborate and share such a close and friendly working relationship with so many of you.

All the questions you want answered about FunkKit – Stickers for Sneakers

FunkKit-Stickers for Sneakers-Before & After We have received numerous inquiries lately regarding our Stickers For Sneakers, and although we did get around to provide a personal reply to every question, we’ve decided to share this post in an attempt to answer questions more generally. So…Whether you’re a teen, tween or young in heart, FunkKit – Stickers for Sneakers allows you to customize your shoes and make a new fashion statement every day.

What are FunkKit – Stickers for Sneakers made of?
FunkKit’s Stickers for Sneakers are made of unique high end stickers allowing you to design your shoe differently each time, and most importantly the stickers are removable.

Can I remove FunkKit’s stickers for sneakers?
Of course! As previously mentioned, FunkKit Stickers for Sneakers are removable. You can change the design every week, day, or hour! Simply peel of the designed sticker just like any other sticker.

What would be the best material to apply FunkKit stickers for sneakers onto?
The stickers are best applied on plastic or leather shoes, both light and dark. Suede and wool surfaces won’t work as well. For best results, we recommend the time of use to be a week up to one month, depending on use and environment.

How long will it take to customize sneakers with the Full Design Stickers?
It can take anywhere between 3 – 15 minutes depending on the size and amount of material used. You are invited to check out our step-by-step tutorial video.

How can I keep the stickers looking good on my sneakers?
The concept behind FunkKit Stickers for Sneakers is the ability to change and customize your shoe each time again, unlike other permanent solutions. It’s important to note that the sneakers should not be put in the washing machine with the stickers on. If you want to clean the stickers you can use water and a clean cloth, sponge or paper towel. The stickers are water-resistant; however, soap and solvents can damage the printing.

We’re here to assist and offer you all the help and support you need.
